It’s late.
A sharp email arrives. Frustration builds. Words form quickly- every sentence carefully crafted to defend, correct, or retaliate. Before long, the response is ready.
Firm. Polished. Just biting enough to leave a mark.
Fingers hover over “Send.”
But something says “Wait.”
Close the draft. Take a breath. Step away.
The next morning, with a rested mind and calmer heart, the message reads differently. The tone no longer feels right. The content may be true, but the delivery? It solves little, and risks a lot.. even losing trust.
So, it’s rewritten.
This time with grace. With the intent to understand, not accuse.
That’s when something better emerges:
A respectful dialogue. A repaired connection. A stronger team.
This is the kind of leadership that rarely gets applause.. but quietly earns respect. Because sometimes, the most mature move is not the perfect response. It’s restraint. It’s redirection. It’s the unsent email.
And growth is choosing the higher road - even when no one’s watching.
This is emotional intelligence in action.
